My foundation training was in clinical nutrition alongside the study of anatomy and physiology. I then graduated with a Level 5 diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy. My study was firmly rooted in nutritional science but very much influenced by naturopathic wisdom, with an introduction to Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine included within the syllabus. I am continuously updating my knowledge, now studying pathology and disease, and with a growing interest in Epigenetics.
Understanding family patterns of illnesses and therefore our predisposed weaknesses through the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine can hep us recognise where an individual may benefit from additional support. Appreciating that genes are just a blueprint, and that it is NOT inevitable that a mutated gene will develop into a disease is important (only 10% of genetic illnesses are inevitable). Recognising that it is the environment that the gene is exposed to that will determine whether or not it is expressed gives us hope. And understanding how to influence the cellular environment, the terrain of the body; through diet and lifestyle, toxin exposure, and conscious thought gives us the power to take control of our health and our future. I work to help people understand how their symptoms have manifested at a cellular level and how they can improve their internal environment to reverse those symptoms or help prevent future expression of an inherited gene.
My job is to educate and empower you to change your habits and take control of your health. Unlike mainstream approaches to healthcare that often result in you becoming reliant on medication for the rest of your life, I teach you how to become reliant on yourself. Most clients will only need to see me two or three times before they are ready to go it alone – feeling strong – feeling free – feeling nourished.
